Church Basement Artist Talks – Dates and locations TBA

The visual artists who will be speaking this year are long-time Mennofolk participants Curtis L. Wiebe and Miriam Rudolf.
Curtis L. Wiebe is a moving picture maker, illustrator, animator, musician and sculptor.  Identifiable by flights of the fantastic in settings of winter forests, overlooked alleyways and prairie landscapes, Wiebe's art is inhabited by imaginative characters brought to life as puppets, drawings and elaborate costumes.
Miriam Rudolf is a printmaker living and working in Winnipeg. Miriam uses mapping methods and cartographic symbols as they facilitate searching, way finding and revisiting. The map-like structure of her prints also allows her to build up a narrative of different experiences simultaneously.  Beneath the narrative lies the concept of her search for belonging after living in three different countries and cultures.
